Play at The Bas[s]ment
Your sound. Our studio.
Want to play at The Bas[s]ment? We welcome applications from established artists and new voices. We are an independent, non-profit techno platform in Amsterdam. Selection is about the music and whether your sound fits our programming.
Listen to our recorded sets on YouTube before applying. Our Invites sessions take place on Friday evenings. Applying does not guarantee an invitation. We will contact you if we see a suitable opportunity.
Techno is what we are looking for.
All sets are performed, recorded and livestreamed in person at The Bas[s]ment studio in Amsterdam. We do not broadcast external or remote streams. You must be physically present at our studio for your session. The set link in this application is for us to review your sound; it is not a submission for broadcast.
The Bas[s]ment is a dedicated underground techno platform. We are specifically looking for techno DJ sets, live sets and hybrid sets that fit our sound and programming. Please listen to our YouTube archive before applying and submit a representative techno set. Applications in other genres are outside the scope of our Invites programme.
DJ sets, live sets and hybrid sets are welcome. We cannot accommodate vinyl sets in the studio at the moment, but a vinyl setup is coming soon. We will announce when vinyl applications are welcome too.
What we offer invited artists
The Bas[s]ment is built for the love of music. We give established DJs and new voices a place to share their sound, regardless of follower counts.
- A studio session in Amsterdam, with professional DJ equipment and technical support. We agree on the setup and your slot before the session.
- A multi-camera livestream and audio and video recording of your set.
- A place in our music archive: recordings are published through The Bas[s]ment channels, including YouTube. Selected sets may also feature in our Salto TV programme.
- Promotion around your session: we provide a digital flyer to share and feature the session through our channels.
- A connection with our community: meet fellow artists and share your music with people who care about techno.
Our Invites sessions are non-profit. We offer artists a place to share their sound through a recorded livestream from our studio in Amsterdam. Participation is unpaid: we do not pay artist fees or reimburse travel, accommodation or other expenses. Artists arrange and cover these costs themselves. Session details are agreed in advance with invited artists. Recordings are managed and distributed through The Bas[s]ment channels; we cannot guarantee viewing figures, follower growth or further bookings.
What we ask from you
- Bring techno that fits our sound. Send a representative, accessible techno set and tell us honestly about your music. Take some time to listen to our archive before applying.
- Be physically present in our Amsterdam studio on a Friday evening. Once invited, confirm your slot and keep us informed if your availability changes.
- Arrive at least 30 minutes before your set. Late arrivals do not extend your slot. Coming early or staying to support fellow DJs is highly appreciated.
- Help share the session. Post the digital flyer on your socials and tag The Bas[s]ment and your fellow DJs. There is no minimum follower count.
- DJ sets, live sets and hybrid sets are welcome. Vinyl is not available in the studio just yet, but it is coming soon.
- Agree on your setup in advance. Tell us which mixer you prefer and discuss any additional equipment or technical requirements before the session.
- Register your guests in advance. Sessions are invite-only, so please tell us who you would like to bring and have them arrive with you.
- Respect the studio and the community. Treat the equipment, team, guests and other artists with care.
- Agree to recording and distribution. Your set will be recorded and shared through The Bas[s]ment channels. Recordings remain the property of The Bas[s]ment; discuss any additional use with us beforehand.
We will share the practical details when we invite you. Applying is an expression of interest, not a confirmed booking.
